Trump suffers defeat after House GOP side with Dems to limit president’s Iran war powers

The House of Representatives passed a War Powers Act resolution by a 215-208 vote, aiming to limit the President’s military actions in Iran.
Four Republican representatives, Brian Fitzpatrick, Tom Barrett, Thomas Massie, and Warren Davidson, defected from their party to vote with Democrats on the resolution.
Under the law, U.S. troops must withdraw from Iran within 60 days unless Congress formally declares war or authorizes the use of military force.
House Speaker Mike Johnson maintained that the U.S. is not at war in Iran, despite the White House deploying troops to the region.
The resolution’s potential passage in the Senate is subject to factors such as the President’s primary endorsements and the attendance of key members.
