Donald Trump formally signed an initial peace agreement with Tehran during his visit to the Versailles palace in France.
The agreement, a memorandum of understanding, was confirmed by Trump to reporters after a dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron.
Key details of the 14-point plan include reopening the Strait of Hormuz, ending conflicts in Iran and Lebanon and establishing a $300 billion reconstruction fund for Tehran.
Trump stated that the world would have faced an “economic catastrophe” if he had not secured this peace agreement with Iran.
French President Emmanuel Macron and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio were present during the ceremonial signing of the document.
