Trump defends remark on Americans’ finances amid Iran war: ‘I’d make it again’
Trump responds to earlier statement saying he doesn’t think about Americans’ financial situation
President Donald Trump reiterated his stance on not considering Americans’ financial situations when making foreign policy decisions, stating he would “make it again.”
His original comment, made before a trip to Beijing, indicated he does not think about the financial plight of Americans when considering deals like opening the Strait of Hormuz.
In an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier, Trump defended his remarks, suggesting Americans would experience “short-term pain” due to rising gas prices.
The national average for gasoline is approximately $4.53 per gallon, a significant increase from last year, with the Consumer Price Index also spiking 3.8 percent.
Despite supporters’ concerns about broken promises regarding economic costs, Trump highlighted the stock market’s performance and high employment rates.
