Donald Trump’s legal team has reportedly declined to provide crucial financial information sought by BBC lawyers in his $10 billion defamation lawsuit.
Trump initiated the lawsuit, alleging the BBC defamed him by selectively editing a January 6, 2021, speech to make it appear he directed supporters to storm the U.S. Capitol.
The BBC has subpoenaed the Donald J Trump Revocable Trust, managed by Donald Trump Jr., requesting extensive financial documents to assess the alleged brand damage.
The broadcaster is actively seeking to dismiss the lawsuit, arguing that Trump’s subsequent re-election demonstrates his public reputation was not harmed by the alleged defamation.
Trump’s lawsuit, filed in Florida, seeks at least $5 billion on each of two counts, totaling $10 billion, for alleged harm to his brand, properties, and businesses.
