Iran says the warfare launched by the United States Armed Forces at President Donald Trump’s order has revealed the Strait of Hormuz’s potential to the world.

Army Chief General Amir Hatami called the key route a “God-given geopolitical asset” for the Iranian people, saying its clout will never return to pre-conflict status.

Speaking over the weekend, Hatami described the leverage as one of the prerequisites for ending the war in a way that erases the threat of recurring battles against Iran.

“One of the legacies of the U.S. president is the activation of the Strait of Hormuz’s potential,” he stated. “Without this conflict, it would not have been activated.”

The top military official vowed Iran will ensure the United States is no longer permitted to enter the Strait of Hormuz, the Persian Gulf, the Sea of Oman.

Hatami said everyone should know American bases in the region will never be able to operate as they did previously because Tehran will not allow such plans.

Iran’s Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, however, declared his country has won the war politically and militarily, even though the U.S. military remains standing.

The lawmaker noted that the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran with “nine specific, declared objectives,” but have since failed to achieve any of the outlined goals.

“This was a defeat for the U.S. and the Zionist regime,” he said. “In the diplomatic sphere, the agreement is a source of pride and a victory on the diplomatic battlefield.”
