Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised two terrorists and recovered weapons and motorcycles during a fierce engagement with terrorists in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
He said the operation followed credible intelligence received in the early hours of August 28, 2026, regarding the movement of terrorists conveying hundreds of rustled cattle through the Maikujera general area of Rabah LGA.
According to the statement, troops acting on the intelligence moved to intercept the terrorists as they advanced towards the identified area.

The troops, however, encountered an ambush staged by the terrorists and responded decisively, fighting through the ambush with superior firepower and neutralising two terrorists, while the remaining elements fled into the surrounding bushes.
The troops recovered two AK-47 rifles and three motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
“During the firefight, the rustled cattle dispersed into the surrounding bushes, while efforts are ongoing in conjunction with local vigilantes to locate and recover the livestock,” the statement said.
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA remain resolute in sustaining the operational momentum against terrorist and criminal elements while safeguarding lives and property across its operation area.
