Troops neutralise suspected terrorist, recover four motorcycles in Katsina

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralised one suspected terrorist and recovered four motorcycles and other items in Katsina State.

The operation, conducted at dawn on Friday, September 4, 2026, took place in the general area of Yantumaki Forest in Dan Musa Local Government Area of the state.

Acting on credible intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the area, troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West, launched a coordinated offensive against the group.

The troops engaged the terrorists with sustained firepower, forcing them to abandon their positions and flee into the surrounding bushes.

During a subsequent exploitation of the area, the troops confirmed that one terrorist had been neutralised. Four motorcycles, a mobile phone and five empty intravenous drip containers were also recovered.

The military suspects that the drip containers may have been used to provide medical treatment to wounded terrorists, suggesting that the group may have been attending to casualties sustained during previous operations.

The latest success is part of sustained efforts by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist networks, degrade their operational capabilities and restrict their freedom of movement across the Joint Operations Area.

The theatre command urged members of the public to continue providing security agencies with credible and timely information that could assist troops in locating and dismantling terrorist elements operating in the region.

As military operations continue across the North-West, the recovery of the motorcycles and other items is expected to further aid efforts to track the movements and logistics of terrorist groups operating around the forested areas of Katsina.
