Troops of the 2 Brigade Garrison have foiled an alleged diesel theft operation and arrested five suspects in Nsit Atai Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
The incident was disclosed in a post shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Sunday night.
According to the post, the suspects were arrested at about 8:05 p.m. on September 4 at HITECH 1 along the Uyo-Oron Road while they were allegedly trying to siphon Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), commonly known as diesel, from a fuel dump belonging to HITECH Company.
“The troops reportedly recovered seven 25-litre jerrycans containing about 175 litres of diesel during the operation,” Makama said.
The post added that the suspects and the recovered exhibits were initially handed over to the company’s Chief Security Officer before being transferred to the Nigeria Police Division in Nsit Atai for further investigation and necessary action.
