Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a 30-year-old woman, Halima Ibrahim, over alleged arms trafficking in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to a statement issued by the Nigerian Army, the arrest was made during a joint operation by troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE, alongside local vigilantes and hunters, in Kisayi and Dogon Daji communities.
The operation was launched following the abduction of a man identified as Dr Abraham Owoicho on August 19, 2026.
The Army said Halima was arrested while allegedly attempting to flee with two AK-47 rifles.
A subsequent search of her residence in Kisayi B reportedly led to the recovery of another AK-47 rifle, a locally fabricated firearm, a military cap and three mobile phones.
The Army said preliminary investigations indicated that the recovered AK-47 rifle was allegedly owned by Halima’s husband, identified as Ibrahim.
The statement further revealed that the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue to establish the source of the weapons.
