Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a suspected terrorist informant during a targeted operation in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The development was contained in a post shared on X by security analyst, Zagazola Makama.
According to the post, the operation was carried out on June 4 by troops of the 221 Battalion following credible intelligence on individuals allegedly linked to terrorist activities in the area.
According to the sources, the operation was conducted in Kara and Wawa communities, where the suspect was arrested based on his alleged involvement in supporting terrorist groups.
The suspect was said to have been on the watchlist of security agencies over alleged links with terrorists operating within the region.
Military authorities alleged that he served as an informant, providing information that could help terrorists plan movements and operations.
The suspect is currently in military custody and is assisting investigators as inquiries continue into his alleged role.
