Transfer: Nwakali departs League one club Barnsley

English League One club, Barnsley, have announced that Nigerian midfielder, Kelechi Nwakali, is leaving the club, DAILY POST reports.

Barnsley said Nwakali’s departure is subject to the approval of the English Football League, EFL.

“We can confirm that Kelechi Nwakali has departed Oakwell by mutual consent, subject to EFL approval,” reads a statement on the club’s official website.

“The Club wishes Kelechi all the best for the future.”

The 28-year-old joined the Reds in 2024 after leaving Portuguese club, Chaves.

In total, he made 30 appearances for Barnsley, including 12 league starts in the 2024/2025 season.

Nwakali is now expected to link up with Cypriot club, PΑC Omonia.
