While Manchester City are firmly in the driving seat for Elliot Anderson, it seems as though Manchester United cannot be counted out of the transfer race.

That is because, according to The Guardian, United remain intent on signing Anderson with it claimed that executives at the club are confident they can beat City to signing him.

Despite the significant funds needed for the deal, it has been claimed that Sir Jim Ratcliffe would be prepared to meet Anderson’s wage demands which are expected to be £150,000.

Manchester City are preparing a second offer to Nottingham Forest for Elliot Anderson.

According to talkSPORT, City are open to paying in excess of £80million as they remain in the box seat to sign him.

However, Forest are looking to receive a fee in the the triple-figures to sell. As he is set to start for England at the World Cup, a key role in the tournament may only help Forest’s valuation be justified.

To cope with the Europa League, Crystal Palace need depth and bringing in Hayden Hackney would give them exactly that.

However, it is difficult to not make the suggestion that he could be viewed as a potential replacement for Adam Wharton.

No major club are in active discussions for the 22-year-old, but things could change very quickly with Manchester United and Liverpool previously linked and in the market to bolster midfield.

Manchester City meanwhile, are firmly focused on Elliot Anderson.

Crystal Palace look to have joined the transfer race for Middlesbrough star Hayden Hackney.

The midfielder is expected to sign for a Premier League club this summer with Everton in pole position to bring him in. However, The Daily Mail have claimed they have had two approaches turned down already and that Palace are now ready to strike.

Their report states that a package close to £20million is set to be offered by the Eagles but it falls short of Boro’s £25million asking price.

Everton appeared as Hackney’s favoured destination but that may have changed with Palace able to offer European football.

Julian Alvarez is another name involved with all three of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

The latter are his current employers but there appears a real chance he could leave to join Barca. However, Los Blancos could now be in the race with reports in Spain stating that the triple-figure signing Florentino wants could be Alvarez.

Swiftly following those rumours, his agent Fernando Hidalgo provided a response. He told 365Scores: “We have no information on the matter, and no one has contacted us about it.”

Marc Cucurella is expected to depart Chelsea in the summer transfer window with a return to Spain on the cards.

Marca are claiming that Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are the clubs currently in the race for Cucurella as he understands his time in the Premier League is over with the arrival of Xabi Alonso not even changing his stance. It has also been stated that Real Madrid could join the battle for his signature.

It is unclear which Spanish club he could join but a return to Barcelona may certainly be favourable as he spent eight years there, across a few loan spells, without making a senior appearance.

Marcus Rashford reportedly remains intent on joining Barcelona even after strong links to Bayern Munich.

The Sun have claimed that the Bundesliga giants are willing to match United’s asking price but draw the line at paying his sizeable wages.

As things stand, that is unlikely to matter anyway with Rashford not answering the calls of any other team, including Vincent Kompany’s side, as he just wants to join Barcelona permanently, as per Spanish publication Marca.

We had some big speculation over a shock move emerge late last night with Cristian Romero emerging of interest to Manchester United.

The Tottenham captain is expected to move on this summer and he could be staying in the Premier League with Argentine journalist Gaston Edul claiming that a bid from Old Trafford is being prepared.

United appear well-stocked at centre-back but Romero would certainly add a level of aggression to their team.

Spurs are likely to demand more of United than if Atletico Madrid came knocking due to not wanting to sell to a direct rival.
