Hello and welcome to the Mirror‘s transfer news live blog for Thursday, June 18.

The World Cup may be underway but Premier League clubs are continuing to work in the background in preparation for the forthcoming season. Champions Arsenal are readying a bid for Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola according to The Independent.

Mikel Arteta’s side are said to be facing competition for the French international from Liverpool, who scored in Les Bleus’ 3-1 win over Senegal in their group opener, but the Gunners have made the first move.

Meanwhile, Andoni Iraola appears to be closing in on his first signing as Liverpool boss. It has come as quite a shock as the Reds have repeated history in hijacking a move from Newcastle United.

Late on Wednesday night, it was reported that they had swooped in on the Magpies’ move for Victor Munoz from Osasuna. Now, reports suggest Liverpool are on the verge of completing the signing of the 22-year-old Spanish winger.

Speculation suggests that working is still ongoing to land highly-rated winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig.

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford saw the buy-out clause for a move to Barcelona expire this week after his loan spell at the World Cup. The 28-year-old showed no signs of that affecting his game as he came on to round off proceedings for England in their 4-2 win over Croatia in Dallas.

It is a big summer for the Three Lions forward, while uncertainty remains over his future, reports suggest he could be reintegrated into the Red Devils fold under new head coach Michael Carrick and a firing Rashford could be a huge asset at Old Trafford.

Plus their work continues behind the scenes to land Mateus Fernandes from West Ham.

We will keep you up to date with all the latest right here on our blog, which you can read below…

According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United face competition from Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Crysencio Summerville.

It has emerged in recent days that the Red Devils are interested in the Holland and West Ham winger.

But the outlet has claimed that both clubs have taken steps forward in completing a move, with the figures in the region of £50million.

The Hammers were relegated from the Premier League last season and while they will play in the Championship for the first time in 14 years, there is no suggestion that they are under pressure to sell, financially at least, who is to say player power won’t play its part.

Manchester United are interested in Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, according to Fabrizio Romano.

It has been suggested that the Frenchman is a dream target for the Red Devils but they face the resolve of Los Blancos.

Tchouameni has faced scrutiny after a public bust-up with teammate Fede Valverde during a poor campaign for the La Liga giants last term. Needless to say, irrespective of the dispute, he is said to still be regarded as a key player in that midfield.

While Romano highlights the interest from United, Madrid are said to view him highly

He said:

“At the moment, I can tell you, for example, on Aurelien Tchouameni, there is interest from Manchester United, that’s for sure.

“For sure, the situation of Aurelien Tchouameni is making Manchester United fans ask, but now Man Utd can go and sign the player. Man Utd love Aurelien Tchouameni. That’s for sure.

“They believe he’s one of the best midfielders in the world. So, for sure, they would love to make it happen, but, at the moment, guys, I am still told that Real Madrid consider Tchouameni as an important player for present and future.”

Sandro Tonali could be the big cross-Premier League move this summer with Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur said to be in the hunt.

According to The Athletic, City and Spurs are in the mix. As well as Elliot Anderson, the North West club are said to be giving genuine consideration to making a double midfield swoop.

Meanwhile, productive talks have been held between the North London club and the Italian’s camp. Roberto De Zerbi has reportedly outlined the midfielder as a target and want to make him a major signing this summer.

For City, a move for Anderson and Tonali would cost over £200million.

The business doesn’t appear to stop there for Liverpool with Ben Jacobs, alongside talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, reporting that work is still ongoing to sign Yan Diomande.

The Reds are said to be optimistic to make the two attacking signings with Diomande among them. Paris Saint-Germain are interested but it has been suggested that move to be completed DURING the World Cup could still happen.

Diomande, of RB Leipzig, is likely to emerge from this summers’ tournament as one of the most exciting prospects and already he has shown his worth with a scintillating display during Ivory Coast’s 1-0 win over Ecuador.

There is a but, the Bundesliga club want to retain his services and a move would cost in excess of £100m.

As I was preparing to go to bed last night, I did not expect Liverpool-focused journalists and Fabrizio Romano to report that the Reds have hijacked Newcastle’s move for Victor Munoz.

The Spaniard is set to become Andoni Iraola’s first signing since replacing Arne Slot following his dismissal after an internal review.

It has been said that the winger’s £34million release clause has been triggered and he will leave Osasuna. The Magpies held a significant interest in the 22-year-old but like last season with Hugo Ekitike, Liverpool have snapped up the target and won the race.

The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder has reported that Newcastle’s offer had been accepted but while the North East were awaiting a response, Munoz chose to make the Anfield switch instead.

One goal at the World Cup and Arsenal have seemingly had enough, seen enough and decided to act.

According to the Independent, the Gunners are preparing a bid to sign the Paris Saint-Germain winger.

Mikel Arteta is said to be looking to “elevate” his Premier League title-winning side and the 23-year-old Frenchman appears to fit the bill.

Liverpool are also said be tracking the winger, who scored in France’s 3-1 win over Senegal earlier this week, as Andoni Iraola looks to strengthen the wide areas at his disposal.

From an Arsenal perspective, the report states that Barcola is viewed as an upgrade on current options but they will have to persuade PSG to accept terms as the Ligue 1 and Champions League holders prefer to keep the winger, though they are open to a sale.
