Former Liverpool midfielder, Don Hutchison, has said that he was surprised by Manchester United’s decision to walk away from signing midfielder Ederson from Atalanta this summer transfer window.
Man United decided against signing Ederson after they agreed a £35m deal with Atalanta before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Red Devils then went on to sign Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, arriving from Chelsea and Aston Villa, respectively.
“I’m surprised they did not go back for Ederson,” Hutchison told ESPN.
“I think he is an outstanding player who can make other players around him better.
“He is just signed a new deal in Atalanta but he is a very, very good player.”
