Transfer: Chelsea take decision on signing Wijnadlum after Camara deal collapses

Chelsea have opted not to sign Georginio Wijnaldum, according to Foot Mercato.

The Blues had considered a move to Wijnaldum, who is currently a free agent after leaving Al-Ettifaq.

This means the 35-year-old can join a new club despite the summer window closing on Tuesday night.

Chelsea missed out on a deal for Monaco’s Lamine Camara on deadline day.

The Ligue 1 club pulled the plug as Folarin Balogun also decided not to sign for Everton.

Wijnaldum scored 17 goals in 34 outings for Al-Ettifaq last season.

But the Saudi club chose not to extend his contract and he has been without a club since then.
