ITV Believe Me is filled to the brim with recognisable British talent as they bring to life victims’ brave fight for justice.

Believe Me debuts tonight, Sunday, May 10, at 9pm on ITV, telling the story of just some of “black cab rapist” John Worboys’ victims and how they felt they were “failed” by the Metropolitan Police who didn’t “thoroughly investigate their allegations”.

With the four-part true crime drama ready to premiere, here’s everything there is to know about the cast of Believe Me on ITV.

Taking on the role of “one of the most prolific sex attackers in British history”, John Worboys, is actor Daniel Mays.

Some of Mays’ most memorable parts have been as PC Danny Waldron in Line of Duty, DCI Jim Keats in Ashes to Ashes, Tivik in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and William “Punch” Lewis in A Thousand Blows, just to name a few.

The first episode of Believe Me focusses on Sarah, one of Worboys’ victims, whose real identity has been protected in the show.

She is portrayed by Welsh actress Aimee-Ffion Edwards who will be remembered as Esme Shelby in Peaky Blinders, Sophie in Detectorists, Sketch in Skins and Shirley Dander in Slow Horses.

Actress Miriam Petche will be best recognised for her breakout role as Sweetpea Golightly in the HBO and BBC drama Industry.

Prior to this, she was a child star featuring in the hit series The Worst Witch as Esmerelda Hallow.

Petche is playing Carrie in Believe Me, another of Worboys’ victims, who went on to become a senior figure in the Conservative Party press team and is now married to former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Carrie used her position at the time to “keep him [Worboys] behind bars” when he was up parole, with ITV commenting that she “put her career on the line…to spearhead a huge media and political campaign pushing for an unprecedented judicial review of the Parole Board’s decision.”

She told ITV: “I hope Believe Me serves as a wake-up call to the police, the CPS and the parole board.”

Laila, a third victim of Worboys’ whose identity has also been protected, is played by actress Aasiya Shah who played Holly in Raised By Wolves and Kareshma in Bloods.

Fighting on behalf of the victims when they sued the Metropolitan Police under the Human Rights Act was solicitor Harriet Wistrich, played by actress Philippa Dunne.

Fans will remember Dunne for starring in the Irish comedy The Walshes, as well as playing Anne Flynn in Motherland and its spin-off Amandaland, and Geraldine Devlin in Derry Girls.

Barrister Philippa Kaufmann KC is brought to life by actress Rachael Stirling who has played Nancy Astley in BBC’s Tipping the Velvet, Becky in Detectorists and Millie in ITV’s The Bletchley Circle.
