Border Force makes record cannabis seizure worth £139m

- Border Force officers seized 12 tonnes of cannabis, valued at approximately £139 million, at Southampton Port.
- The record-breaking haul was discovered on May 6 in 1,200 boxes across two shipping containers that had arrived from Canada.
- This interception represents the largest-ever cannabis seizure by Border Force, surpassing the previous record by four tonnes.
- The operation was a collaborative effort involving Home Office intelligence analysts, Canadian officials and UK law enforcement.
- Following the seizure, the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit arrested three individuals on suspicion of facilitating importations.
