American Airlines flights resume after IT outage across the US

  • At approximately 6:30 p.m. ET, the Air Traffic Control System Command Center reported an IT outage affecting all airports, with over 1,500 issues reported on Downdetector for American Airlines.
  • The incident resulted in more than 1,200 American Airlines flight delays by Tuesday night, though systems were eventually brought back online and flights resumed.
  • Other major U.S. carriers, including United Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines, did not report any issues with their flights during this period.
