Manchester City have insisted there is no contractual clause that could see Erling Haaland leave for Real Madrid this summer.
The Premier League side were responding to comments made by Enrique Riquelme, one of Madrid’s presidential candidates.
Riquelme vowed to bring Haaland and Rodri to the Bernabeu if he wins the election.
He specifically claimed there was a release clause in Haaland’s current deal.
But City have released a statement, saying “the stories which have emerged from Spain regarding the future of Erling Haaland are false.
“There is no chance of this happening and there is no contractual clause to enable it.
“We are considering legal action for the use of our player image in this context.”
