The Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, Sam Amadi, on Tuesday questioned why there is no official autography regarding the death of former military Head of State, Sani Abacha and former Attorney General of the Federation, Bola Ige.
Amadi noted that an official autography would bring closure to the narratives surrounding the death of Abacha and other imminent Nigerians.
He spoke in an interview with Arise Television in reaction to claims that Abacha died during intercourse with his mistress.
A former Director of the Department of State Services, DSS, Dennis Amachree had claimed that the former military Head of State died during sex with a female pharmacist.
But, Abacha’s former Chief Security Officer, Major Hamzat Al-Mustapha (rtd), refuted Amachree’s claims, stressing that he has a Closed Circuit Television, CCTV, footage of how Abacha died.
However, Amadi said: “I think the interest is because there is no official closure and no clear statement, the former president who died under mysterious circumstances and afterwards the presumed winner of the June 12 died also while several events knocked off as well till today.
“But the real question is why don’t we have official autography till today? Why don’t we have official closure to high level personalities that are dead, now Abacha is dead and we have different persons providing different narratives, Amachree, the former DSS official providing his own narratives, he wrote a book where he made this claims.
“But again this is a secret police officer, somebody who had a ringside role in those encounter and if you read his book and listen to his comments, they sounded credible from an official who ought to know.
“How did he die? The president in circumstances that suggested some kind of unusual death. Again, this goes to the fact that in this country we have a problem with history and investigating facts, we have a problem with stating facts.
“There is a Nigerian thing of how people die and making taboo of how they died, either through accident or had intimacy with a woman and died, we taboo everything and at the end of the day we don’t have history to work.
“This is a national tragedy, look Bola Ige died and we don’t have a proper narratives of how he died, no information that bothered on people who played key roles in national development, people are writing all kinds of things as there is no official autography.”
