  • Rory McIlroy, alongside Matt Fitzpatrick and Xander Schauffele, faces a challenging second round at The Open, with an early tee time of 10:09am BST on Friday after all three struggled in the first round at Royal Birkdale.
  • Jackson Suber emerged as the surprise leader after the first day, finishing five under par on Merseyside.
  • Bryson DeChambeau is a strong contender, currently three under par, and is scheduled to tee off at 3:04pm alongside defending champion Scottie Scheffler, who is just one shot behind him, and LIV Golf rival Tyrrell Hatton.
  • A group that includes local favourite Tommy Fleetwood, Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth will start shortly afterwards at 3:15pm.
  • Another prominent group includes Shane Lowry, Brooks Koepka and PGA Championship winner Aaron Rai, and they will begin their second round at 9:47am.
