After 22 years of marriage, Tess Daly and Vernon Kay left the world in shock when they announced their shock separation, so it’s perhaps understandable to assume their two daughters would be left devastated. But according to reports, it has emerged that their grown up daughters Phoebe and Amber are in fact “happy with the arrangement.”
News of the couple’s split came one day after the Strictly Come Dancing star, 57, posted an adorable picture of her standing side by side Phoebe, 21, while on a day out in Eton, Berkshire.
Phoebe made the brave decision to quit the UK to move to New York, so their day out together was a reunion with her stunning lookalike daughter.

A source told the Daily Mail: “It sounds bizarre but everyone is actually happy with the arrangement. The relations between Tess, Vernon and their children are really close and strong. Their main priority was their girls.”
Both Tess and Vernon released a joint statement on social media to announce the end of their two decade marriage. The statement read: “After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably.”
It added: “This has not been an easy choice, but it comes from a place of mutual understanding and a shared desire for what is best for both of us. “
“We remain great friends and more importantly, fully committed to our roles as loving and supportive parents, which will always be our priority,” they said.
It concluded saying: “There are no other parties involved in this decision. We kindly ask for privacy during this time as we navigate this transition together. We will not be making any further public comments. Tess and Vernon.”
And while the public were yet to find out the news when Tess posted her day out with Phoebe, judging by her broad smile, it appeared the former Strictly Come Dancing host was not about to let her decision cloud precious time with her daughter.
She captioned the picture saying: “Got my Phoebe back for a few days and making the most of every moment.” The estranged couple started dating back in 2001 after meeting at a Christmas party.
The following year, they announced their engagement and by 2003 Tess walked down the aisle married the TV personality.

And speaking about his role as a father of grown-up children, Vernon recently told The Times: “Now that Phoebe is 21 and Amber is nearly 17, our relationship with them is changing.”
He added: “We talk about encouraging them to leave the nest and be independent, but we don’t really want them to. You have to learn to enter their world and that world has pitfalls that just didn’t exist for us.”
