A teenager has been arrested and charged after a man was allegedly stabbed in Glasgow city centre. Police were called to an area near St Enoch Square, close to the shopping centre, at around 2.15pm on Sunday, May 17.

The 19-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment after suffering serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Police previously urged members of the public to avoid the area while officers carried out enquiries.

A heavy police presence remained in the area on Sunday evening. Officers were seen behind cordons near Howdy’s pub in St Enoch Square and around Argyle Street close to Glasgow Central Station.

Part of St Enoch Subway Station was also temporarily closed. On Wednesday, Police Scotland confirmed a 17-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the assault.

He was released on an undertaking and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date. A spokesperson for Police Scotland said enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
