Taylor Swift’s billionaire status has reached a new milestone.

On Thursday, June 4, the “So High School” singer’s net worth was revealed to be $2 billion in Forbes’ “Iconoclast 50” list, which “recognizes leaders in finance, business, technology, media, entertainment and philanthropy that are changing the game in real time, disrupting their industries and challenging the status quo,” the outlet shared.

Forbes called Swift, 36, “one of the most commercially successful songwriters of all time,” noting that she “changed the music industry in 2020 when she leveraged her star power to rerecord most of her discography. As a result, her royalties flowed straight into her pocket, and she inspired fellow artists to take ownership of their music.”

In 2019, Swift’s former record label, Big Machine, sold the rights to her first six albums to music manager Scooter Braun. The following year, Braun, 44, handed over the catalog to Shamrock Capital for $300 million. In order to regain control of the rights to her music without purchasing the original master recordings, Swift began rerecording her older works as “Taylor’s Version.”

The Grammy winner has since released four Taylor’s Version albums: Fearless and Red in 2021 and Speak Now and 1989 in 2023. (She confirmed last year that she has also rerecorded her debut album, but has yet to release the project. Meanwhile, she currently has no plans to release a Taylor’s Version of her sixth studio album, Reputation.)

Swift achieved billionaire status in 2024 thanks to her massively successful Eras Tour, which spanned 149 shows in 51 cities across five continents. The venture became the highest-grossing concert tour in history with revenue of $2.2 billion.

In May 2025, Swift used her earnings from the tour to buy back her original masters for an estimated $360 million. She now has ownership of her entire music catalog.

“All the times I was this close, reaching out for it, only for it to fall through. I almost stopped thinking it could ever happen after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away,” Swift wrote in a lengthy letter shared via her website at the time. “That’s all in the past now. I really get to say these words: All of the music I’ve ever made now belongs to me.”

According to Forbes, Swift’s net worth doubled to $2 billion by March 2026, “making her the richest female musician in history.”

Swift’s new net worth puts her closely behind Jay-Z in the list of richest musicians, as the rapper has a reported net worth of $2.8 billion. Rihanna and Beyoncé are both worth a reported $1 billion, according to Forbes.
