Wes Streeting plans to overhaul planning laws and reverse Ed Miliband‘s ban on new fossil fuel production if he becomes prime minister.
He intends to allow new oil and gas drilling in North Sea fields like Jackdaw and Rosebank, using tax receipts to fund cheaper energy solutions such as heat pumps and insulation.
Streeting will centralise decision-making for nationally significant projects, such as energy plans and data centres, bypassing local objections and fast-tracking infrastructure.
His proposals include introducing emergency laws to accelerate the construction of data centres, nuclear power generation, and transport infrastructure.
The former health secretary also aims to boost high-skilled immigration, recruiting 20,000 scientists, engineers, and AI experts to the UK.
