A Sharia Court in Ungogo, Kano State, has remanded Maimuna Muhammad in prison over allegations that she attacked her friend, Khadija Safiyanu, and cut her face with a razor blade.

Maimuna was brought before the court following a complaint filed by Khadija at the Dantamashe Police Station.

The complainant alleged that Maimuna went to their residence, verbally abused her and attacked her with a razor, leaving cuts on her face.

During the proceedings, the State Counsel, Muhammad Aliyu Ibrahim, read the charge against Maimuna under Section 159 of the Kano State Sharia Penal Code.

Maimuna admitted the allegation and told the court that she had made a mistake, while also expressing remorse for her actions.

The presiding judge, Malam Muhammad Shirama, subsequently ordered that Maimuna be remanded in prison pending further proceedings.

The case was adjourned until September 16, 2027, for continuation of the hearing.
