Serena Williams Rolls Back The Years With Winning Return At Queen’s
Serena Williams, the 23-time Grand Slam champion, will make a singles comeback at Wimbledon at the age of 44 after receiving the final wildcard spot for the tournament.
This marks her return to singles play since the 2022 US Open, where she indicated she was ‘evolving away’ from tennis, and her first Wimbledon singles appearance since a first-round loss in 2022.
Prior to this announcement, Williams had already confirmed she would be competing in the doubles tournament alongside her sister Venus, with whom she shares six Wimbledon doubles titles.
Williams recently made her return to competitive tennis by playing doubles at Queen’s and Berlin, winning her first-round match at Queen’s before an injury to her partner forced her withdrawal.
The Williams sisters, with a combined age of 90, are scheduled to play their first-round doubles match at Wimbledon on either 2 or 3 July.
