A popular biscuit maker on one of Scotland’s most beautiful islands is looking to hire a new staff member, describing the position as a “rare opportunity”. The job will allow you to live and work in a beautiful coastal setting and potentially advance your career as part of a family-owned business.
The Island Bakery is a small food producer situated in the idyllic town of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. Dating back more than 30 years, the business has been run by the same family since it was first established. It specialises in organic biscuits and shortbreads, and sells to trade customers across the UK and beyond.
The Daily Record previously reported that the biscuit maker was looking to hire staff to join its production team. The Island Bakery is now seeking a sales manager on a full-time and permanent basis. The successful applicant will earn a salary of between £40,000 and £55,000 per year.

According to the job listing on HiJOBS, one of the perks of the sales manager position is that accommodation is available to the successful applicant. There is a one-bedroom flat available to rent on Tobermory’s Main Street, which could be used as either as a permanent home or as a temporary foothold on Mull.
The Island Bakery currently has a “small and capable team”, with around just 40 people in total employed and only one production line. The management team includes just five people who are each responsible for their own area, but who also get involved with every aspect of the business.
The day-to-day activities of the sales manager will revolve around making sure that The Island Bakery delivers what its trade customers need. This will involve various tasks such as processing orders, scheduling deliveries, dealing with export paperwork, and more.
According to HiJOBS, the position would suit somebody who has experience working with sales in the food industry and those looking to advance as a long-term part of a growing business. The job listing states that The Island Bakery is “looking for capability and attitude before experience”.
Additionally, candidates must be willing to relocate to Mull if they are not already a resident on the island. Other important attributes that the sales manager must have include strong communication and number skills and they must be competent with standard office IT systems, as well as being honest, hardworking, and strongly self-motivated.
