A Scot has finally made it on to the winners podium at the World Cup Final, the Daily Record can reveal. However unfortunately it was handing out the medals, not receiving them.

Lynsey Troop was a member of the Qatar Airways team taking part in the presentation of runners up medals to the Argentina players who had just lost 1-0 to the new world champions Spain. She was among eight fellow cabin crew who took the silver medals up on to the stage where they were then handed to President Donald Trump who in turn presented them to the Argentina players.

“Lynsey took the silver medals on to the stage on a cushion where they were handed to a FIFA official who gave them in turn to Infantino and then President Trump. There is a very good picture of her standing behind the King of Spain and Mark Carney with Lionel Messi and the World Cup in the foreground.

“Her mother and I were thrilled when we were able to get brief glimpses of her on stage during the TV coverage. Lynsey was also delighted to meet Tom Cruise and Chris Martin. She said Cruise was recently nice.”
