  • A Russian warship, the frigate Neustrashimy, conducted a live-fire artillery exercise in international waters off the coast of Devon on Monday.
  • The exercise, which lasted about 30 minutes, took place about 40 nautical miles south of Plymouth.
  • The Royal Navy’s offshore patrol vessel HMS Tyne and a French military aircraft shadowed the Russian frigate during the operation.
  • The Russian warship reportedly informed HMS Tyne of its intentions before commencing the live-fire exercise.
  • A Ministry of Defence spokesperson said the Royal Navy “stands ready to protect UK national security”.
