Russia has announced measures against Germany’s “unfriendly actions” taken in protest over the attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport in August.
Last week, Germany ordered the closure of the Russian Consulate General in Bonn and terminated the lease for the Russian House of Science and Culture in Berlin.
Moscow retaliated in the same vein on Monday by revoking its consent to the functioning of the German Consulate General in Saint Petersburg.
The Foreign Ministry stated that the diplomatic mission must wind down by September 18, and all its employees must depart Russia by that date.

Additionally, the Goethe cultural centres must cease operations no later than September 13, while their staff members must leave Russia by that date.
Moscow said the note handed to the German side emphasised that Berlin “provoked a new escalation in bilateral relations.”
The United Kingdom, the EU and NATO condemned the Leipzig/Halle Airport incident, which European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said was an attempt on cargo planes.
