Russia denies being responsible for drone attack at German airport

German police probe bomb drone at Leipzig airport
  • Russia has responded to allegations that it was responsible for an attempted drone attack at an airport in Germany last month.
  • Germany said Tuesday that it concluded Russia was to blame for the incident at Leipzig/Halle airport where an explosive-laden drone, which was later defused, prompted a counterterrorism investigation and fears of another hybrid attack on European soil.
  • Russia fired back, calling the allegations absurd and baseless provocation which stood to benefit Ukraine, the militaristic wing of the Europe’s elite, and arms makers.
  • “The Russian ambassador categorically rejected the accusations levelled by Berlin as unsubstantiated, absurd and contrary to common sense,” the embassy said.
  • “He pointed out that the measures announced by the German side represent an unprecedented escalation in Russian-German relations and will not remain without consequences, for which the German Government will bear full responsibility.”
