Roy Keane delivered a scathing assessment of Casemiro’s performance in the first half of Brazil’s World Cup clash with Japan.
Japan’s Kaishu Sano breezed past Casemiro after intercepting a pass from Danilo before finding the bottom corner to give Japan the lead in the 29th minute.
Keane was frustrated with Casemiro’s defending, claiming that Casemiro “guided” Sano towards the goal and should have back-tracked to make things more difficult for Sano.
The former Manchester United captain said he would be surprised if Casemiro re-emerged for the second half, but Carlo Ancelotti did give the midfielder time to make up for his error, with Brazil making just once change as Endrick replaced former West Ham star Lucas Paqueta.
Casemiro went some way to silencing his doubters when he equalised a little over 10 minutes into the second half to bring Brazil level.
