Residents evacuated from homes after man claimed to have explosives

Police were called to Stanstead Road in Catford, South London, on Wednesday night for an emergency welfare check on a flat occupant.
Specialist officers and negotiators engaged with a man, believed to be in his 20s, who claimed to possess explosives.
Residents on Stanstead Road were evacuated from their homes around 11:30pm and taken to the nearby Ladywell Centre, with the street remaining cordoned off for approximately 12 hours.
The man sustained several injuries and is currently in hospital in a critical condition.
