  • Paul Quinn, 52, has been sentenced to 24 years in prison at Manchester Crown Court for a 2003 rape, a crime for which Andrew Malkinson was wrongly jailed.
  • Andrew Malkinson spent 17 years in prison for the offence before his conviction was quashed in 2023, following DNA evidence that proved his innocence.
  • Quinn was convicted of the rape in April, leading to his sentencing on Friday.
  • Mr Justice Bright, who presided over the sentencing, praised the victim, calling her a ‘hero’ and a ‘remarkable person’ for her courage in enduring a second court appearance.
