Scottish actor and comedian Gregor Fisher has revived his much loved character Rab C Nesbitt character on social media tonight to wish the Scottish football team the best of luck ahead of their match against Morocco this evening (June 19). Claiming he will be there in “quite a few spirits”, the Scot is ready to be a part of the celebrations.
Following on from their 1-0 win against Haiti on Sunday, June 15, the Tartan Army are set to play their second group stage match in a bid to try and move on to the knock-out round of the World Cup. While the team currently sits at the top of the group, it is still all to play for.
Scots across the country will be showing their support for the team, whether that be at home, at a watch party, or at the pub with pals to soak up the World Cup atmosphere. Many famous faces have also been sending their support to the team ahead of the important match.

One of which is Rab C Nesbitt star Gregor Fisher. Sharing that he has emerged out of ‘hibernation’ for the World Cup, he took the time to send an amusing message to the Scotland football team just hours before kick-off.
Speaking to the camera, Gregor said: “Hello, it’s me. I’ve come out of hibernation to say a few words to you on this very important evening. I send the Scotland team my very best wishes for a right good humpin’ of that Moroccan lot.
“A right good humpin’, there you are. Sending them all the best wishes and all the rest of it.”
He went on to add: “I am away to have a small refreshment and wait for the kick-off at 11 o’clock. I’ll be with you in spirit… quite a few spirits actually.”
Many fans and friends of the actor have shared their joy after watching the clip. One person wrote: “This is the highlight of the World Cup. Stay out of hibernation Rab.”
With another added: “Rab looking better now than he did in the 80s.” A third person also gleefully wrote: “this just made my night!!! c’mon Scotland.”
Meanwhile, one social media user said: “Would’ve loved another Rab C Nesbitt World Cup Special episode.”
This was followed by a fifth commenter, who wrote: “Never thought Rab would look that well in 2026. Absolute legend.”
Some people may have struggled to recognise the 72-year-old if they haven’t since his comedy show in the 1990s. After being diagnosed with diabetes, Gregor decided to start listening to his doctor’s advice about losing weight.

Quite happy to no longer be as recognisable, he recently said: “I’ve lost quite a lot of weight because I was told I was diabetic and it might be good if I could lose a couple of pounds. I quite like not being recognised by people nowadays, actually.”
Along with portraying Glasgwegian alcoholic Rab on and off for over two decades, Gregor has also starred in films such as Love Actually, The Merchant of Venice, and Whisky Galore!
Following on from the first leg of this sold off UK tour, the comic will play at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year. Set to be on stage at the Gilded Room from August 15 to 30 – apart from August 24 – fans can buy tickets now.
