Over a hundred protesters gathered in Oxford to oppose a controversial Oxford Union debate featuring far-right activist Tommy Robinson.
The debate, titled The West Is Right To Be Suspicious Of Islam, also included former actor Laurence Fox, sparking widespread criticism.
Demonstrators chanted slogans and significantly outnumbered a small group of counter-protesters supporting Robinson, with police separating the two factions.
The event led to road closures on St Michael Street and some local shops and pubs closing early, with Thames Valley Police ensuring safety and facilitating peaceful protest.
The debate had previously been delayed due to significant outcry, particularly from faith leaders who expressed being “disturbed and saddened” by Robinson’s invitation.
