Police present N26.4m insurance payout to families of 52 fallen officers in Imo

The Imo State Police Command has presented cheques totalling N26,428,898 to families of 52 police officers who died in active service.
The cheques were presented on Friday by the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, Audu Garba Bosso, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
The presentation took place at the office of the Commissioner of Police in Owerri under the Group Life Assurance/Group Personnel Accident Scheme, aimed at providing financial support to families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
According to a statement by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, Bosso “commiserated with the beneficiaries and acknowledged the sacrifices of the deceased officers.”
The statement read, “While presenting the cheques, the Commissioner of Police commiserated with the beneficiaries and acknowledged the sacrifices of the deceased officers. He assured them of the continued commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to the welfare of its personnel and their families.”
Among the beneficiaries who received the cheques were Felista Okorie, Gift Chidera Omini, Stella Chidinma Nwosu, Nkeiruka Okparada, Florence Offoegbu and Edith Ogochukwu Onyekwere, alongside other beneficiaries.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Nwosu expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police for the gesture.
The statement read, “She noted that the financial assistance would provide meaningful support to the families.”
The command said the payment was part of efforts to support families of officers who died while serving the country.
The statement read, “The presentation took place at the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, under the Group Life Assurance/Group Personnel Accident Scheme, aimed at providing financial support to families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.”
It added that the command appreciated the Nigeria Police Force for sustaining welfare initiatives for families of fallen officers.
“The Imo State Police Command appreciates the Nigeria Police Force for sustaining welfare initiatives for families of fallen officers and reaffirms its commitment to honouring the sacrifices of personnel who paid the ultimate price in service to the nation,” the statement read.
