Ahead of the Eid-al-Adha celebrations, the Kaduna State Police Command has assured residents of adequate security arrangements to ensure citizens go about their normal activities without any hindrance.
DSP Mansir Hassan, the spokesman of the command, in a statement on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu, said comprehensive security measures are in place to safeguard lives and property before, during and after the festivities.
Accordingly, the Commissioner of Police directed the deployment of security personnel and operational assets to critical locations across the state, including Eid prayer grounds, markets, recreational centres, highways and other public places expected to witness heavy human and vehicular movement during the celebrations, in a bid to ensure a peaceful atmosphere.
The statement added, “The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit had also been mandated to conduct thorough security sweeps of Eid grounds and other strategic public areas to prevent any security breach.”
The command stated that tactical teams had been stationed along the Abuja–Kaduna Highway to strengthen security surveillance, facilitate the smooth movement of travellers and reduce traffic congestion commonly experienced during festive periods.
The police urged citizens to celebrate peacefully and conduct themselves in accordance with the law, while advising residents to remain vigilant, avoid acts capable of disrupting public peace and cooperate with security personnel deployed across the state.
The statement also enjoined parents and guardians to monitor their children and discourage reckless behaviour while urging motorists to exercise patience, obey traffic regulations and drive cautiously throughout the holiday period.
