Four men have been arrested in Adamawa State for allegedly breaking into a corpers’ lodge in the state capital, Yola, and stealing phones and other valuables from 36 corps members.

The Adamawa State Police Command said it arrested the suspects in connection with the robbery of National Youth Service Corps members at their lodge at the Specialist Hospital in Jimeta, Yola, recovering four stolen mobile phones.

The suspects, identified as Elkana Ishaya, 17, of Clarck Quarters, Jimeta; Mubarak Abubakar, 22, of Galadima Street, Jimeta; Musa Umar, 30, of Samunaka; and Kabiru Tanko, 20, of Galadima Street, Jimeta, allegedly committed the offence on June 27, 2026.

On that day, according to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the suspects, armed with weapons, forcibly entered the NYSC lodge and robbed the corps members of their valuables, including mobile phones.

Nguroje said in a statement that the suspects are being investigated for alleged criminal conspiracy, possession of dangerous weapons, criminal trespass and robbery.

He explained that operatives attached to the Karewa Area Command commenced an investigation immediately after receiving the report, leading to the arrest of the four suspects.

The police added that efforts were ongoing to recover additional stolen items and apprehend other members of the robbery gang still at large.

“The Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Umar Hassan, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, particularly those of NYSC members serving in the state,” Nguroje stated.
