No fewer than 13 residents have been killed and several others injured in separate attacks on communities in Jos South, Mangu and Riyom Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
The attacks, which occurred on Sunday night, claimed the lives of nine passengers travelling to Jos after suspected terrorists opened fire on their vehicle at Dungus community in Jos South Local Government Area.
According to the National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders, BYM, Rwang Tengwong, the incident occurred “at about 9:40 p.m. when the vehicle came under attack.”
Tengwong said, “the victims were passengers travelling to Jos when the attackers opened fire on their vehicle, adding that some of those injured were rushed to hospitals, where some later died.”

He said one of those killed was a member of Operation Rainbow, describing the incident as “a sad development.”
Also, in Mangu Local Government Area, suspected terrorists reportedly attacked Vodni community in Pushit District during the night, killing two people.
Four others sustained gunshot injuries in the attack and were receiving treatment at a hospital in Mangu town.
Also in Riyom Local Government Area, two people were reportedly killed at Tahoos in a separate attack around the same period.
The fresh attacks have renewed concerns over the security situation in parts of Plateau State, with residents and communities continuing to call for stronger measures to protect lives and property.
As of the time of filing this report, the Plateau State Police Command was yet to comment on the incidents.
