Peter Murrell spent more than eight times as much on pens as the Scottish Parliament, it has emerged.
The ex-SNP chief executive splashed out more than £19,000 on gold nibbed pens over a six-year period.
Holyrood by comparison paid £2301 for 14,437 pens between January 2016 and October 2022.

Scottish Labour deputy leader Jackie Baillie said: “This puts into perspective the scale of Peter Murrell’s lavish spree.
“Most people would never dream of spending £19,000 on pens. It shows just how out of touch Murrell was.
“We have consistently called for a parliamentary inquiry to help restore public trust in politics as this SNP scandal has badly damaged it.
“John Swinney should back a parliamentary inquiry and allow the public to get the answers they deserve.”

Deputy Tory leader Rachael Hamilton added: “The contrast between Murrell’s spending on these items compared to Holyrood for its significant number of staff raises further serious questions.
“Did Nicola Sturgeon never question how her thieving husband was able to spend so much on luxurious pens? We know that she used these pens in Parliament but she has a duty to come clean. Were these the same ones bought with cash stolen from SNP members?”
Numerous high-end fountain pens were recovered from SNP HQ at Gordon Lamb House in Edinburgh in a police search as part of Operation Branchform.

Among the items seized was a Montblanc white gold fountain pen costing £4225 – the most expensive pen purchase linked to Murrell.
Former first minister Sturgeon was pictured using luxury pens that appeared to match ones bought by her estranged husband.
