Finding a fragrance that is fresh enough for warm weather, versatile enough for everyday wear, but elegant enough for more special occasions isn’t always easy – harder still to find one under £50. But perfume fans have been heaping praise on a ‘soft’ and ‘sophisticated’ scent that’s currently available for less than half price.
The Perfume Shop has reduced the price of the Hugo BOSS Femme Eau de Parfum 75ml from £89 to £41.99, giving shoppers the chance to pick up the iconic scent while saving more than £47. The offer comes as Hugo BOSS has refreshed the packaging of three of its hero women’s fragrances, including BOSS Femme, BOSS Ma Vie and Hugo Deep Red.
While the bottles have been given a sleek new look, the beloved fragrance formulas remain exactly the same. Described as the brand’s ‘most liberatingly feminine’ fragrance, it features notes of tangerine and blackcurrant alongside freesia, rose, stephanotis and oriental lily, rounded off with a creamy musk base.

The scent was originally released in 2006 and has earned quite a loyal following over the last 20 years. One reviewer wrote: “I love how delicate the fragrance is, but at the same time full of character, not too overpowering. It lasts a long time, too. It’s perfect for the summer. I would definitely buy it again.”
Another mentioned that they love the new design, commenting: “Great scent as a stand-alone or layered with other floral perfumes. Soft floral scent and works great for everyday or for events. I like the new bottle over the old one as it’s a bit more ergonomic.”

Projected by the fruity top notes of tangerine and blackcurrant, this fragrance is grounded in a creamy, musk base. This works with the trio of white flowers – stephanotis, rose and oriental lily – to leave behind a subtle, warm aura.
Long-time fans are equally impressed, with one shopper saying: “Love this perfume, I’ve used this particular perfume for many years. It’s not overpowering, just a lovely subtle scent. I always get complimented and asked what perfume it is. Brilliant price.”
Boots customers have also praised the fragrance, with one describing it as ‘fresh and light floral but not overly sweet’ and ‘a lovely sophisticated perfume from Boss’ that’s suitable for both day and night wear.
Another reviewer said they’d repurchased it three times, calling it ‘a very soft and sexy smell’ that gets them ‘a lot of compliments’. Though one mentioned they’d prefer the fragrance to linger longer. They wrote: “Lovely scent and I use it all the time; however, I do wish it lasted longer. It really doesn’t last very long at all, which is a huge shame as it smells really fresh and airy, all while being a feminine scent.”
Elsewhere, at Boots, the Calvin Klein Eternity Moment for Women Eau de Parfum 50ml is reduced to £44.25, down from £59. It’s also got fruity top notes and floral hearts in the form of lychee and guava, pink peony and passion flower, with a musky base, complemented by rose wood and raspberry cashmere.
For those who would prefer to trial a few different fragrances before settling on a signature scent, ASOS has this ASOS Summer Scenting Beauty Box for £28. Inside are five mini perfumes from the likes of Floral Street, Shay and Blue and Kayali, allowing shoppers to switch up their scents and find a favourite.

If floral fragrances aren’t your style, The Perfume Shop’s summer edit also includes the newly packaged BOSS Ma Vie, which blends fresh cactus blossom with rose, while Hugo Deep Red offers a bolder combination of blood orange and ginger flower with sandalwood, cedarwood and vanilla. The latter is currently priced at £62.40, down from £78.
One shopper said of the scent: “Have used this perfume for years, tend to wear it when going out/special occasions. Love the smell of this, and it lasts a long time.”
Another added: “Love the smell, very long lasting. Would say that it is more for evenings out or a special occasion than day wear. Bought on special offer.”

But like with Boss Femme, some shoppers found it didn’t last as long as they’d like, with a third commenting: “Smelling nice and sweet. But this is not long-lasting. I don’t smell anything after half an hour. This is weird because I bought the eau de parfum.”
But with more than £45 off the usual price, BOSS Femme is a fragrance that’s well worth considering if you’re looking to update your perfume collection ahead of summer weddings, holidays and special occasions, without breaking the bank.
