The Federal Government has dismissed reports claiming that the ongoing recruitment exercise into Nigeria’s paramilitary services has been deferred until after the 2027 general elections.
A statement circulating online had claimed that the ongoing recruitment exercise was deferred until after the 2027 general election due to funding constraints.
But the Ministry of Interior said no such decision had been taken, stressing that the recruitment exercise remained ongoing.
In a statement on Thursday, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Magdalene Ajani, described as fake a purported statement dated August 11, 2026, which was falsely attributed to the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
“The document, which claims that the ongoing CDCFIB recruitment exercise has been deferred until after the 2027 general election due to funding constraints, did not originate from the Ministry of Interior, the Minister’s office, or the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB),” the statement said.
The ministry further stated, “This press release is fake, unauthorised, and fraudulent. The Minister did not sign or issue this statement.
“No decision has been made to defer the recruitment exercise until after the 2027 general election. The exercise is ongoing.”
The ministry urged applicants and members of the public to disregard the circulating document and rely only on information released through the verified platforms of the Ministry of Interior and the CDCFIB.
It also directed applicants to the official recruitment portal for authentic information concerning the exercise.
