Bauchi Central senator, Abdul Ningi, has urged the Nigerian government to prosecute and publicly parade those who kidnapped the Oyo school children and their teachers.

Some gunmen had abducted some school children and students of Baptist Nursery and Primary School, LA Primary School, and Community Grammar School in Orrire  Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The school pupils and teachers spent over 50 days in captivity before they were released last week Friday by a combined team of security forces.

However, Ningi warned against delayed prosecution, stressing that it would create a wrong impression.

Speaking on the floor of the Senate, the lawmaker said: “What is important going forward now is to take a queue. Now we have people arrested, they must be paraded, prosecuted and let the law take its full course.

“Delayed prosecution will create another impression that something is wrong. I therefore call on the security agency to prosecute, parade, and use them as an example.”
