Officers of the Nigeria Police Force on Friday embarked on a route march in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The exercise, which involved armed and unarmed police personnel, saw officers move through major roads and parts of the state capital in a display of security preparedness ahead of the poll.

The route march formed part of efforts to reassure residents and demonstrate the readiness of security agencies to maintain law and order before, during and after the election.
The development came as preparations intensified across the state for the governorship poll, with security operatives deployed to strategic locations.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission on Friday commenced the distribution of non-sensitive electoral materials at its Osogbo Local Government Area office on Ilobu Road.

The distribution of the materials is part of the commission’s preparations to ensure the smooth conduct of the election.
Residents are expected to head to the polls on Saturday to elect the next governor of the state, amid heightened security and increased political activities across Osun.
