There was drama in Modakeke, Osun State, Saturday, after some men dressed as police officers allegedly stormed a distribution centre and disrupted the distribution of election materials.

An X user, identified as Oyindampla, made the claim in a post on Saturday.

He wrote: “Serious drama this morning in Osun state as some men dressed as Police Officers Allegedly Storm Centre in Modakeke, Fire Tear Gas and Disrupt Distribution of Osun Election Material.”

The incident reportedly occurred as election officials prepared materials for distribution ahead of the Osun State governorship election.

Voters across the state are expected to elect the next occupant of the Bola Ige Government House for a four-year term.

A total of 15 political parties are on the ballot, with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party.

Two candidates, Adesina Adeyemi-Doro of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and Simon Adewale of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, had announced their withdrawal from the contest.

While Adeyemi-Doro endorsed the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, Adewale declared support for Adeleke.

Despite their withdrawals, APGA and APM remain on the ballot for the election.
