Nigerians have called on the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, to immediately arrest Senator Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, over an alleged threat against members of the Accord Party ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

A video circulating on social media purportedly showed the All Progressives Congress, APC, lawmaker addressing party supporters protesting alleged attacks on APC members in Ilesa.

In the video, the senator was allegedly heard urging APC supporters to attack members of the Accord Party wherever they were found and prevent them from voting during the election.

The remarks have sparked widespread outrage, with several Nigerians demanding the senator’s immediate arrest and prosecution.

The development has also raised concerns over the safety of voters ahead of the election.

Reacting, an APC chieftain, Babafemi Ojudu, called on the IGP to take immediate action, describing the alleged remarks as unacceptable in a democracy.

“This is unacceptable in a democracy. Not even in the heyday of military rule would a military person talk like this.

“IGP Tunde Disu, over to you. We await action,” he wrote in a post on his official Facebook page.

Similarly, Osun State Governor and Accord Party candidate in the election, Ademola Adeleke, called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the lawmaker.

Adeleke said the development had gone beyond politics, describing it as a national security threat requiring the attention of President Bola Tinubu through the Office of the National Security Adviser.

“I have raised this issue with the IGP and demanded the immediate investigation and arrest of Senator Fadahunsi. The IGP has confirmed the video and assured me of immediate action,” Adeleke said.

Several other Nigerians took to their social media handles to demand the immediate arrest of the lawmaker.

However, Fadahunsi, in an interview with TVC News on Tuesday night, denied making the statement, claiming that the viral video was generated using artificial intelligence.

“The video being circulated by Davido and his group is AI-generated,” he said.
