Ogun hosts second Wamufat/NSSF sports camp

The US-based non-profit youth initiative, Wamufat Youth Community Development Foundation, will host the second edition of the Wamufat Sports Camp, Run Ogun, from August 3 to 8, 2026, in partnership with the Nigeria School Sport Federation.
For six days, children aged 10 to 16 will receive free coaching across multiple sports, mentorship and character development, culminating in a community Race Day on Saturday, August 8.
The camp will blend training in athletics, football, chess, netball, golf, ayo and tennis with a daily curriculum focused on values such as gratitude, respect, excellence, teamwork, resilience and integrity.
Guided by a dedicated team of coaches and mentors, participants will spend the week learning discipline and self-belief before showcasing their growth at the public Race Day celebration.
The second edition builds on the success of the inaugural camp in August 2025, which brought together more than 450 children at the Agroterra Sports Complex in Joga-Orile, Ogun State.
The first edition also welcomed Nigerian sporting icons, including Olympic medallist Mary Onyali and former Super Eagles international Mutiu Adepoju, who inspired and mentored the young athletes.
“Last year showed us what’s possible when a community rallies around its children,” said Fatimoh Muhammed, President of WYCDF.
“This second edition is about going further — reaching more children, deepening the mentorship, and reminding every young person that they matter, on and off the field.”
This year’s camp again brings together international and local partners, with the NSSF leading technical delivery and operations.
US-based Run Your City will contribute coaching and storytelling from its global Run Your City movement, which also runs chapters such as Run Bugesera and Run Kochi, while Agroterra Resort will provide the venue.
