Nigerian Government has restructured the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, orientation camp into three phases.
DAILY POST recalls that President Bola Tinubu on Monday approved a holistic reform of the NYSC scheme.
Speaking on the planned reform, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, revealed that new structures phases of the orientation camp.
According to her, the first two weeks in the camp would henceforth, focus on civic responsibility, national values, and leadership development.
She said the second two weeks will now cover “career mapping, financial literacy, business planning, and access to finance.”
Similarly, Hadiza said the final two weeks would “provide specialised training based on each corps member’s chosen career stream”.
She said the scheme has been segmented into 11 core streams that would interest the Nigerian youths.
The 11 specialised streams are: Agric Corps, Medical Corps, Education Corps, Tech and Digital Corps, Legal Corps, Public Service Corps, Infrastructure Corps, Green Corps, Enterprise Corps, Creative Economy Corps, and Paramilitary and Security Corps.
According to her, under the new orientation framework, corps members will now select one of the newly created 11 specialised streams upon registration and will receive specialised training throughout the orientation programme in preparation for future employment and national service.
